Brian Lane is a character in BBC TV's detective show New Tricks. He is played by Alun Armstrong.

Brian Lane served as a DI in the Metropolitan Police, where he earned the nickname Memory Lane due to his incredible memory skills. He retired after being blamed when a prisoner died while under his care. He suffers from OCD and rides his bike everywhere. He is married to Esther, and has a son.
