The convicted has a chance to appeal to the court (Appeals court). If he/she fails, then he would have to die. They can be pardoned for their crimes. In Malaysia they die through hanging.
Between 1970 and 2001, Malaysia executed 359 people.
As of 2006, 159 people remain on the death row.
